Host Cameroon dropped their first points against Cape Verde after a one-all draw with Vincent Aboubakar scoring his fifth goal of the tournament.
The 29-year old is currently leading in the goal-scoring chart with five goals from three matches.
Burkina Faso also progressed to the next phase following a similar result with Ethiopia.
Cameroon qualifies as group winners with seven points from three games, winning two with a draw.
Burkina Faso also made it to the knockout phase as runners-up, culminating in four points from three games.
They are the first teams to be confirmed as first and second as Cape Verde and Ethiopia are sent home with four points and one point respectively.
