Jephthah Robert, a relative of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has been kidnapped by gunmen suspected of being kidnappers.
He was taken at 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday in front of his house on Dimrose Road in Yenagoa, according to reports.
The circumstances behind Jephthah’s kidnapping were unclear, but a spokesman for the State Police Command, SP Asinim Butswat, acknowledged the occurrence in a brusque reaction to questions.
“He was picked up at Dimrose Road in Yenagoa. We are intensifying efforts to rescue him and arrest the kidnappers.
“We are working on a promising lead”, Butswat said.
Jonathan’s cousin was kidnapped just 24 hours after Federal Otokito, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment was released by his kidnappers.
