Olabisi Kolawole, the immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, has emerged as the party’s candidate for the June 18 governorship election.
He received 671 votes out of 1185 total votes cast.
Former Governor Ayo Fayose endorsed Kolawole, who defeated his closest challenger, former governor Segun Oni, who received 330 votes.
Professor Olusola Eleka, former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s deputy and a PDP contender in the 2018 election, was among the eight candidates who competed in the delegate primary election held in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
Former PDP National Treasurer Wale Aribisala, Bisi Kolawole, Kayode Adaramodu, Lateef Ajijola, and Mrs. Titilayo Owolabi-Akerele are among the others.
One of the key aspirants, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, withdrew from the race before the commencement of the exercise,
