The newly inaugurated Faculty of Media and Communications at the University of Uyo was assigned a new faculty building in the annex campus of the school.
However, the building which looks dilapidated and unfit for classes and office has been a cause for concern for the new heads of department at the faculty.
One of them, Professor Charles Obot who was recently inaugurated as the HOD of the department of Film and Multi-media Studies took to Facebook to solicit support for the renovations of the building.
This he said would enable them to appear for the NUC Resource Verification which will eventually determine if students can be admitted to the various departments in the school.
Friends, the University of Uyo Management has assigned an old storey building on the Annex Campus to serve as Faculty of Communication and Media Studies building. It needs a major renovation to get it ready for NUC Resource Verification, the outcome of which would determine how soon we would start admitting students in the name of the new Faculty/Departments. We need financial and material assistance to renovate the building, computer sets, books, etc. Please we need your support.
In the comments section of the post, people showed interest in supporting the renovation of the building while one user outrightly called out Uniuyo for not using the TETFUND resources to provide better facilities for the faculty.
Is it that Uniuyo does not benefit from TETFUND or some people are stealing it. TETFUND is used in other universities to build magnificent structures, why is Uniuyo’s own different?
