While other confederations will be engaging in qualifiers for the FIFA Women World Cup 2023, members of the Confederation of African Football ( CAF) will be participating in the African Women Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Twelve teams have qualified for the African showpiece in Morocco but the teams to represent Africa in the world event are yet to be decided.
Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and host Morocco have all qualified and only four teams from this group will make it to the world cup to represent Africa.
All four semifinalists in the Africa Women Cup of Nations in Morocco will qualify for the World Cup.
It is safe to say that teams who will be participating in Morocco will not only fight for continental glory but also for a place in the world event as it will be hosted next year.
Significantly, this means that Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire will not be in next year’s Women World Cup as they have not qualified to the African event.
