The Government of Enugu State on Tuesday lifted sanctions placed on commercial use of Motorcycles and Tricycles as well as Tipper-trucks in the state.
The banishment was lifted and announced by the State Governor His Excellency Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi via his verified social media page.
Ugwuanyi wrote ” Enugu State lifts ban on operation of tricycles, Motorcycles, and tipper-trucks after leaders of Association of Tricycles Riders Transport Union (ATRTU) Enugu State, Motorcycle Transport Union of Enugu State, Nkanu East/West branches and the Enugu State Tipper Union of Nigeria admitted that hoodlums have infiltrated their associations to perpetrate criminal activities to tarnish their image.
“They Tendered unreserved apologies to the Governor, pledged to fish out the bad eggs among them and support the efforts of security agencies to curb crimes in the state.”
The sanction was placed by the State Government on security alerts as concern for the safety of the people grew in the state.
It is in the interest of the state that the sanction has been lifted and the operators have been advised to trade with caution as the state will continue to monitor their operation.
