A Confederation of African Football staff who was on duty at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday as Nigeria played their final leg of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ghana has reportedly passed on.
Dr Joseph Kabungo who was CAF’s doping officer passed on after ugly scenes following Ghana’s World Cup qualification.
The Black Stars of Ghana booked their place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the expense of Nigeria in their own soil as angry fans caused chaos after the game.
Supportera stepped into the pitch in numbers and destroyed valuables in the stadium as players needed to escape to their tunnel.
Though not confirmed, Dr Joseph was said to have been beaten by angry fans as he lost consciousness and eventual death after being rushed to the hospital.
CAF is yet to make a statement on this as well as the NFF but it has been confirmed that the Gambian Doctor lost his life in Nigeria while on duty for CAF.
