Nigeria Minister of Sport, Mr. Sunday Dare, visited the Nigeria U17 female team on Wednesday, as their preparation for the upcoming FIFA U17 Women World Cup qualifiers against Egypt intensifies.
Nigeria will engage the Egyptian team in a double header tie in the second round of the qualifiers.
The Flamingoes earlier dumped Dr Congo 8-0 on aggregate, with a 3-0 away win and a 5-0 smashing at home.
Speaking ahead of the game, the coach of the Flamingoes, Coach Bankole Olowookere, spoke on his side’s readiness for the North Africans after the 3-0 and 8-1 test-match triumphs over Squad One Academy and Joshia Angels respectively, in Abuja.
He noted that there is no cause for worry as the team is prepared mentally and physically, especially after the two games of test.
He acknowledged that the 3-0 win against the Squad one Academy was a start up tone as the girls showed class against boys in the game.
He also revealed the confidence he has in the side when it comes to converting goals.
He said; “The girls are very good in converting goals. If you have seven chances and they convert three or four, it’s a plus to the team”..
Nigeria will play Egypt next Sunday and the winner will have another round of qualifiers to play in may before the World Cup draws takes place in June. India will host the World in the FIFA U17 Women World Cup later this year.
