Roma boss Jose Mourinho has turned his sights on Arsenal star Ainsley Maitland-Niles as his transfer priority, Chris Wheatley reports.
The young star who has been consistently been played as a defender showed his class when he was deployed as a holding midfielder.
Mourinho is a lover and strong admirer of dark-skinned players and he hoped to take the Englishman on an initial loan to Italy.
The 24-year old has been reduced to the bench in recent months and it appears he will be delighted to have some game time elsewhere.
Arsenal will have to access their options critically especially with the likes of Thomas Partey leaving for the AFCON next month and Maitland-Niles is a like-for-like replacement for the former Atletico Madrid man.
