The popular betting site, Bet9ja, on Saturday evening announced full control over it’s website.
The site was reportedly hacked by internet fraudsters who demanded millions before returning the site’s control to its authentic owners.
It started on a Tuesday evening; according to one of their workers, she tried booking a game on the site but to no avail as she could not access her login identity.
Football lovers and sport gamblers showed excitement on social media after the announcement of the site returning, bringing their usual business to a state of normalcy.
“We can confirm that the ransomware attack came from the blackcat Group. You can find information about the Cyber criminal organisation online” Official Bet9ja statement reads.
“As Nigeria’s leading and foremost sports betting company, we want to assure you that we have taken these steps because we know the importance of protecting you, our customers. I want to assure you that our data is safe and your funds are intact. The security of your personal data is not compromised even with these attacks.
This is our way of showing appreciation for your unwavering loyalty, patience and understanding during such a difficult time.” The CEO added.
