The Confederations of African Football (CAF) has announced that the 2023 edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be played in the summer.
History reveals that the reason African footballers suffer in Europe is considerations that every January, those players will be required to represent their respective countries in the AFCON tournament which normally takes a month to be played.
Coaches in Europe and other influential individuals have been calling for the Africa football Mondial to be shifted to summer (between June and July) when European leagues are on break.
This agitation has been given a swift response as CAF announced on Wednesday that its 2023 edition will be held between June 23 to July 23, 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire.
Players will now have no reason to ponder before accepting their country’s invitation.
