Current African Champions Algeria have been eliminated in this year’s African Cup of Nations thanks to a last-day defeat by Ivory Coast.
The Algerians went into the game with a point, hoping to win for a place in the knockout stages with four points.
But the Ivoriens defeated Algeria on Thursday thanks to a 3-1 victory as Equatorial Guinea defeated Sierra Leon to ensure Algeria’s elimination.
Algeria defeated Senegal in the final of the previous edition to be crowned Champions but find it hard to defend their title.
Ivory Coast are winners of group E with 7 points followed by Equatorial Guinea who are on 6 points with Sierra Leone and Algeria maintaining third and fouth positions with 2 and 1 points respectively.
