Akwa Ibom-born David Etop has on Thursday been crowned 2022 Mapinduzi Cup champion with his club Simba SC of Tanzania.
Simba FC defeated Azam 1-0 in the finals to be crowned champions of the 2022 edition.
Striker Meddie Kagere scored the only goal of the match after his 56th minutes strike to set the Zanzibar stadium on fire.
David Etop started on the bench for his side but was also crowned the championship medal as a sub.
Simba had a clean sweep of the individual accolades. Pape Sakho was the most valuable player (MVP).
Kagere took the golden boot as top scorer and Aishi Manula won the golden gloves as best tournament goalkeeper.
