Egypt’s coach, Carlos Queiroz, has claimed that the Pharaohs’ loss was due to their poor performance in the first half of their Africa Cup of Nations match against Nigeria.
He made this statement during a post-match interview.
Pharaohs, he claims, were nowhere to be spotted on the field in the first half.
He said, “The performance in the first half was very poor and this is the truth, we were not on the field. We started playing in the second half and there was no reason for this failure and loss against Nigeria.
“We lost this match but there are six points we must get against Sudan and Guinea Bissau to qualify.”
Nigeria’s 94th encounter at the Africa Cup of Nations was her 51st victory, after drawing 22 matches and losing 21.
Egypt was playing in their 101st encounter in the AFCON, having won 57 matches, drawn 17 and lost 27.
