Cameroon goalkeeper, Andre Onana produced the only save of the penalty kick as the host nation defeated Burkina Faso to claim third in their homeland.
Onana was blamed for Burkina Faso’s second goal after he redirected Kabore’s cross into his own goal to bring his side to a two-goal down.
The host Cameroon produced a spectacular performance inspired by captain Abubakar to bring his side level and forced the game into penalties.
Abubakar scored twice to take his goal tally to eight in the tournament, the highest goalscorer thus far.
He opened the penalty shootout for his country and led by example, sending the goalkeeper the wrong.
Onana who was an object of mockery after half an hour for conceding three goals made a decisive stop in Burkina’s third spot-kick to give his side the much-needed opportunity to stay in front.
And the host did well to ensure five over five spot-kick as they claimed a prize in their country after hosting the event.
