The Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe who ended an Africa Cup of Nations match between Mali and Tunisia in Cameroon at 85 minutes and then 15 seconds before 90 minutes has come out to speak on his decision.
Sikazwe threw controversy during the match between Mali and Tunisia as Tunisia was trailing 1-0 to Mali when he blew his final whistle at 85 minutes.
He was called to complete the game by the match commissioner and he again ended at 89 minutes, 45 seconds.
This decision sparked anger in the minds of Tunisian players and officials who later refused to complete the game at the third call.
Sikazwe in an interview with “The doctors told me my body was not cooling down. It would have been just a little time before [I would have gone] into a coma, and that would have been the end,” Sikazwe divulged to BBC.
“I think God told me to end the match. He saved me,” he added.
