After an initial postponement, the Recording Academy has confirmed that the 2022 Grammy Awards will be held on April 2, 2022.
Harvey Mason, the Recording Academy’s Chief Executive Officer, announced this in a statement on Tuesday. He also disclosed that the event, which is usually hosted in Los Angeles, will be held for the first time in Las Vegas.
The statement read, “I’m so pleased to let you know that the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards have been rescheduled and will now be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday.
“We are excited to take the GRAMMYs to Las Vegas for the very first time and to put on a world-class show. From the moment we announced the postponement of the original show date, we have been inundated with heartfelt messages of support and solidarity from the artist community.
“We are humbled by their generosity and grateful for their unwavering commitment to the GRAMMY Awards and the Academy’s mission.”
The event, which was originally scheduled on January 31st, was postponed due to the risks associated with the new COVID-19 variant Omicron, which is highly transmissible.
Trevor Noah, the South African comedian who hosted the 63rd edition of the event, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the second time at the event, as previously announced.
