Super Eagles interim boss Augustine Eguaveon has expressed his discomfort over the high demands of Nigerians as he prepares to take the team to the AFCON tournament next month.
Eguaveon was appointed interim boss to take over from the sacked Gernot Rohr who was seen not deemed fit to deliver the high demands of football supporters all over the country and has expressed his optimism.
“It was tough coming up with the final list and since I got the news (of taking Eagles to Cameroon) I would say I don’t sleep well because of expectations but I know not everybody wants us to succeed because they are in doubt but we will do everything humanly possible to put a smile on the faces of Nigerians”. Eguaveon wrote on his official social media page.
Though on interim management and the announcement of a new permanent head coach, the 56-year old will take charge of Super Eagles when they kick off their campaign against the Pharaohs of Egypt and subsequent matches in the competition.
Before the appointment, Eguaveon served as the technical director of the team and will return to his post immediately after the AFCON outing in Cameroon.
The NFF on Wednesday announced the appointment of Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro as the man to replace Eguaveon when he is back from the Nations Cup.
