West Ham striker Michail Antonio jumped into defender Kurt Zouma from having more punishment after his cat incident.
Zouma has been the subject of several hits from both his club and sponsor with many calling for his West Ham deal to be terminated while others ask for him to be dropped from the France national team.
Footage of the France defender kicking and slapping his cat appeared in the media leading to his club placing him a £25,000 fine to be donated to animal welfare Charities as reported by Marca.
On Wednesday afternoon, German kit and football boot manufacturer Adidas confirmed they had withdrawn their sponsorship deal with the player. An Adidas statement read: “We have concluded our investigation and can confirm Kurt Zouma is no longer an Adidas contracted athlete.”
The 27-year old former Chelsea defender came out to apologise leading to Police withdrawing from further investigation of the case.
His Club teammate Michail Antonio on Thursday questioned the rate people have turned out to react to Zouma’s case.
The Jamaican forward reminded the football world how footballers have been racially abused and other footballers who have trampled on others’ fundamental Human Rights, yet given limited punishment.
Antonio asked a Sky Sports reporter ‘is it worst than other racist abuse?’
Many people have referred to the incident involving Former Chelsea forward Eden Hazard when he stamped on a ball boy and was given just a three-match ban and have queried the rate Zouma is being treated.
