The Kaduna State Government has directed all public schools in the state to run only four working days a week, Monday to Thursday, instead of the regular five working days, as schools resume for the 2021/2022 academic year.
In a notification for school resumption for the second term of the 2021/2022 academic session, the state Commissioner of Education, Halima Lawal, issued the mandate.
As a result, the commissioner stated that the academic calendar for 2021/2022 would be altered to guarantee that the curriculum for the academic session is covered.
She also reminded all parents, guardians, and members of the public that the state government has set January 10 as the start date for the second semester of the 2021/2022 academic year.
This is despite the fact that the state government has recommended parents, guardians, and kids to follow all public health rules and take all preventative measures against COVID-19, according to Lawal.
The state government switched to a four-day workweek for all civil officials five weeks ago, prompting the mandate to public schools.
Muyiwa Adekeye, a spokeswoman for Governor Nasir El-Rufai, indicated that the decision was made to help raise productivity, improve work-life balance, and let people spend more time with their families, rest, and agriculture.
