The Nigeria Women U17 Football Team, The Flamingoes, recorded a 1-0 first leg win over their Ethiopian Counterpart at the Abebe Bikila Stadium, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Friday.
Forward Opeyemi Ajakaiye scored the only goal of the match in the 36th minute, after racing through a long ball by Taiwo Afolabi, to gift Nigeria the much-needed advantage in the first leg.
Nigeria now holds an advantage as they take the game back to their base in Abuja, where they scored majority of their goals in the FIFA U17 Women World Cup qualifiers.
The Flamingoes have recorded four wins from their four games, scoring 14 goals and conceded none.
Their latest victory at Addis Ababa means they have kept five clean sheets in five games. They return to host Ethiopia on Saturday, June 4, in Abuja.
