Some Nigerian food combo can easily be regarded as weird. We’ve heard food is life and we actually agree with that. Where would we be without food, right? However, it might interest you to know that some Nigerians do not believe in exercising restraint when it comes to combining different food types. Matter of fact, most Nigerians believe in practicing what can be termed culinary BDSM. These weird Nigerian food combinations are more common amongst students but they are not restricted to students alone.
Should there be a guideline on what food should be combined with another?
Below is a list of weird food combinations Nigerians eat:
1. Indomie and Bread:
Indomie noodles on its own is a full meal; so is bread. Both can be eaten individually to complete satisfaction, but some people prefer combining both. Perhaps this combo brings a satisfying feeling of satiety. You never know till you try it.
2. Eba and Beans:
We heard this combo slaps harder when the eba is cold. We also heard it tastes a lot better with ewa-agoyin. I still think eba and other swallows should be paired with soups.
3. Rice and Okro:
Individually, these are two very amazing meals. Together? Not so much.
4. Spaghetti and Beans:
Here’s a picture in case you’re doubting. We’ve heard this bangs. I’m curious as to how this is combined, especially since it’s cooked together. For me, this spaghetti and beans is definitely a hard pass.
5. Bread and Egusi:
This is wrong on so many levels. But hey, one man’s meat is another’s poison, right?
When it comes to food, we’ve all got our guilty pleasures I guess. Nigerians in particular, love their food and they love to be creative with it. However, in exploring this creativity, we do advice caution.
