The Nigeria Female U17 team, Flamingoes, have taken a huge step in qualifying for the FIFA U17 Women World Cup after the victory against their Egyptian counterparts on Saturday.
The Flamingoes completed their home and away victory over Egypt U17 female team with a 2-0 win at the Petro Sport Stadium, Cairo.
Forward Opeyemi Ajakaye wasted no time to extend Nigeria’s advantage with a 5 minute strike to break the deadlock.
Amina Bello doubled the lead after 14 minutes, to secure the first goal and ensure Nigeria’s victory.
The 2-0 win in Cairo means Nigeria has a 6-0 aggregate victory over Egypt in a double headed tie, after their 4-0 thumping in the first leg at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Nigeria has now qualified to the final stage of the qualifiers for the FIFA U17 Women World Cup, which will be hosted in India.
The Flamingoes will play either Ethiopia or South Africa in the last phase of the qualifiers. Winners will progress to the World Cup which will be played later this year.
