These Nollywood celebrities who are single moms can be said to be a good depiction of the phrase “heroes don’t wear capes.”
Most people don’t necessarily plan to be single mothers, but sometimes, life happens. Being a double parent can be hard enough, now imagine being a single parent – and especially, a single mother.
In this article, we will be celebrating women who aside from their fame, business schedules, career challenges etc, still get to play the role of a mother and father to their kids.
1. KATE HENSHAW:
The 50 year old Nollywood actress and Fitness enthusiast was born on the 19th of July 1971 in Cross River State. She has starred in over 45 Nollywood movies and has several awards to her credit.
In 1999, she got married to the Bristish-born Roderick James Nuttal and the Union was blessed with a child, Gabrielle. They got divorced in 2011 and she has since been in custody of the child.
2. GENEVIEVE NNAJI:
The award winning and TV icon was born in Mbaise LGA of Imo state on March, 3rd 1979 but she grew up in Lagos state. She has starred in many Nigerian movies and has many awards to her credit including the AMAA awards.
She is an honorary member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She was reported to have given birth to her only daughter and child during her teenage age.
3. TONTO DIKEH:
Also called King Tonto, is an award winning actress, singer, songwriter and Humanitarian. She was born on the 9th of June, 1985 and she hails from Obio-Akpor in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
She got married in 2014 to Olakunle Churchill and they had a son, King Andrea. However they got divorced in 2019, and she has since been in custody of the child.
4. MERCY AIGBE:
Mercy Aigbe was born on 1 January 1978 in Edo State to Pa Aigbe and Mrs Abisola Grace Owodunni. She hails from Benin city which is the capital of Edo State.
She is an actress, director, fashionista, and Businesswoman. She got married to a Nigerian Hotelier, Lange Gentry and they had two children together (Juwon and Michelle). However, the marriage ended in 2017.
Mercy recently got married again to a businessman, Kazim Adeoti.
5. MONALISA CHINDA:
The sultry screen goddess was born on 13th September, 1974 in Port Harcourt. She is an actress, director and scriptwriter.
She married Victor Dejo Richard in 2009 and the union produced a beautiful daughter, Tamar.
However, she divorced her husband on the grounds of domestic violence and she has been in custody of the child.
6. ANGELA OKORIE:
The lead actress in the movie “Holy serpent” came into limelight in 2015. She was born on the 29th October, 1975 in Cotonou, Benin but she hails from Ishiagu in IVO LGA, Ebonyi state.
She is a graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos and she has a son.
7. MIMI ORJIEKWE:
Mimi is a nollywood actress, beauty queen, model, fashion designer and entrepreneur. She was born on July 14th, 1987. And she hails from Oji in Enugu state.
She got married to Charles Billions in 2015 and the union was blessed with a daughter in 2017, Jasmine.
She however divorced her husband on the grounds of infidelity after the news of his lover abroad showed up on the internet. She has since been in custody of the child.
8. UCHE OGBODO:
The actress and producer hails from Enugu state and was born on 17th April 1986. She joined the list of Nollywood celebrities who are single moms after welcoming her first child with her then-fiancé in 2014 however the relationship ended months after they got engaged only to discover she was pregnant but he refused the pregnancy.
She recently got married to the father of her second child Bobby Marris, months after she was born.
9. FAITHIA BALOGUN:
Faithia Balogun is a nollywood actress and producer who was married to her co-actor Saidi Balogun and the marriage was blessed with 2kids.
She is from Delta state and she was born in Ikeja on February 5th 1971.
She has since been in custody of the kids with her a child from her previous relationship thereby making her one of the Nollywood celebrities who are single moms.
10. QUEENETH HILBERT:
The Nigerian-Lebanese actress was born on June 12, 1992 and she hails from Ebonyi state.
The former model emerged first runner up at the Miss Tourism Nigeria.
She has a four year old son, who was born in 2016.
