From the next orientation exercise in 2022, prospective corps members will be asked to produce proof of vaccination before being admitted into the camp for registration, according to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
In a nationwide virtual speech to the 2021 Batch “C” Stream Two corps members and camp authorities on Monday, NYSC Director-General Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim revealed this.
He noted that the NYSC would not let down its guard on strict adherence to the regulations put in place to stem the spread of the new COVID-19 strain – omicron, notwithstanding the recorded cases of the virus.
Instead of pursuing the hardly available salaried positions, he advised corps members who were about to complete their orientation course to add value to themselves by obtaining skills that would enable them to become business owners.
The initiative had partnered with numerous institutions, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and others, to provide soft loans to corps members with good business plans, according to the NYSC-DG.
He advised them to continue with the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development program they began during the orientation course as part of the post-camp training.
