The African Cup of Nations kicked off on Sunday with a match between hosts Cameroon and West African rival Burkina Faso at the Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé. The Indomitable Lions were victorious in the match.
In the other group match, Cape Verde defeated Ethiopia’s 10-man squad.

Political leaders and officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) spoke at the opening ceremony.
A performance by the two musicians invited for the occasion, however, kicked off the showcase.
Fally Ipupa, a Congolese artist, and Kwame Ametepee Tsikata, better known as M.anifest, a Ghanaian rapper, singer, and composer, wowed the audience with their performances.
