Nuhu Abok, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, has been impeached by eight members of the government’s legislative arm.
Yakubu Sanda, a member from the Pengana Constituency, was elected as the new Speaker.
The governing All Progressives Congress (APC) legislators, who were led into the chambers amid heavy security, removed him in the early hours of Thursday.
However, members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were denied access to the Assembly premises.
