A British magazine has offered Queen Elizabeth II the title of “Oldie of the Year,” but she has declined since she does not match the qualifications.
According to The Associated Press, a letter from the 95-year-old queen’s secretary to Oldie magazine stated, “Her Majesty believes you are as old as you feel, as such The Queen does not believe she fits the appropriate conditions to be able to accept, and hopes you can find a more worthy recipient.”
According to the Associated Press, previous recipients of the honor, which is granted to persons of elderly age who have made a significant contribution to society, include painter David Hockney, former Prime Minister John Major, and the queen’s late husband Prince Philip.
French-American actress and dancer Leslie Caron, 90, was given the award after the queen declined it.
Queen Elizabeth who is the longest-reigning British monarch in history, is still very active and tends to all her royal duties.
