Former Barcelona star Samuel Eto’O has been elected new President of Cameroon football Association (FECAFOOT).
The election took place at the FECAFOOT’s General Assembly on Saturday as Eto’O pulled a total of 43 votes, 12 more than his closest rival Mbombouo Njoya to emerge victorious.
The election was preformed by members of FECAFOOT’s general assembly comprising of delegates from the regions and presidents of local football clubs.
Five candidates including Emmanuel Maboang Kessack, Jules Denis Onana, Nyamsi Jean Crepin, Tagouh Justin as well as Wandja Zacharie pulled out of the race on Saturday morning before votes were cast.
The former Barcelona, Inter Milan, Zenith St Petersburg and Chelsea star will run the affairs of Cameroonian football in the next four years.
