Senegal and Watford forward Ismaila Sarr fought his way to becoming an African Champion when his country Senegal, were crowned winners of the 2021 edition in Cameroon.
Sarr was named in the Senegal squad but his club Watford issued a letter telling his country he’s injured and can’t be available.
Senegal in response argued that should Sarr be injured, he should be sent home to be assessed by Senegal doctors.
He was hence released and treated in Cameroon as the tournament progressed.
The 23-year old was fit to play against Egypt in the finals and was unarguably Senegal’s top performer after Mendy and Mane.
He is now a champion, a lesson to other rising stars to learn and be loyal to their countries.
