On Tuesday, the Lagos State Police Command announced that five Dowen College students and three housemasters had been arrested for alleged involvement in the death of their colleague, Sylvester Oromoni Junior.
Four of the pupils were allegedly cited by the victim’s parents as being directly involved in the crime, while another student is supporting police investigations, according to the police.
While speaking to journalists on Tuesday, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, stated that no one is above the law and that the police would carry out their duties in accordance with juvenile laws.
“The students whose names were mentioned are in police custody and investigation is on. Equally too, I have gotten in touch with my colleague in Delta State,” he said.
“Yesterday, I spoke with the mother of the deceased. I got them invited, so once they come now, we will be able to get the full facts of the case. The school has told us their own version of the case and the parents too, we will get their own version of the story.”
The families of the alleged youngsters, the school’s administrators, the deceased’s family, and the government were all involved in the matter, according to Odumosu.
According to him, the four parties would gather together to perform and watch the post-mortem on Sylvester’s body in order to arrive at an objective conclusion.
