The biggest gospel music concert in Nigeria is set to be held on the 3rd of December, 2021.
The Experience (also known as The Experience Lagos) is an annual free gospel music festival hosted in Lagos Island, Nigeria’s Tafawa Balewa Square by House on the Rock senior pastor, Paul Adefarasin.
History of The Experience
The first concert, which was started and presented by House on the Rock’s senior pastor, Paul Adefarasin in 2006, drew 70,000 people.
The concert featured international and Nigerian gospel artistes like Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton, Donnie McClurkin, Lionel Peterson, Jamal Bryant, Mike Aremu, Dunni Olanrewaju, Dc Envoys, Gordons, Asu Ekiye, Buchi, Tosin Martins, and Midnight Crew.
Popular Nigerians have attended the concert over the years. Former President Goodluck Jonathan and Former Governor Babatunde Fashola graced The Experience in 2010. In 2016, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Oludolapo Osinbajo were in attendance. Nigerian celebrities like Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr SID, and Toke Makinwa also attended the concert in 2016.
In 2017, over 700, 000 people attended the concert. In 2019, Travis Greene recognised the event as the biggest gospel music concert in the world and it was attended by almost a million people. The same year, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu attended the concert.
The concert’s mission is to “showcase artistic musical performances, goodwill messages and intercessory prayers by internationally recognised Artistes, Icons and Luminaries uniting under Christ’s banner to amplify the gospel and share His universal message of peace and goodwill to all”.

The announcement which was made on its official Instagram page invited people from all countries and races to worship God. it also announced the official hashtags for the event.

Guest Artistes at The Experience 2021
The Experience is usually filled with so many Gospel singers and preachers both from within Nigeria and all over the world. Many gospel artistes from all over the world perform at the annual event some of whom are, Don Moen, Nathaniel Bassey, Sinach, Joel Osteen, Travis Greene. Last year, Hillsong, Tasha Cobbs, made their debut during the live event.
This year, several Gospel artists like Don Moen, Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwo, Donnie McClurkin, Travis Greene, Eben, Tim Godfrey, Sinach, Dunsin Oyekan, William McDowell, Planet Shakers, Chevelle Franklyn, Sidney Mohede, Ana Paula Valadao, Sheldon Bangera, Nokwe The Poet and many others are expected to perform.
Since the 2013 edition of The Experience, Wilson Joel has been providing the musical score and direction and is expected to do so this year.
Venue for The Experience 2021
The Rock Cathedral will host the Experience 2021. It has a 14, 000-seater auditorium and is located in Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki, Lagos. According to Pastor Paul Adefarasin, the venue will host a limited number of participants but will be available to the public through various streaming channels.
Last year, the event was held as a virtual program due to the challenges posed by the COVID19 pandemic.
The Rock Cathedral serves as a multi-purpose facility that houses the headquarters of the House on the Rock and the Rock Foundation.
How to Partake in The Experience 2021
You can participate in The Experience 2021 at the official venue The Rock Cathedral or stream via the internet. There are no charges for participating in the event. However, if are not lucky to be part of the limited participants at the venue of the event, you can livestream via Nigeria’s foremost live streaming platform LiveFromNaija – on The experience 2018 live streaming page.
The event can also live-streamed on House on the Rock YouTube page. Other live streaming platforms include Facebook, Mixlr, Periscope
The event will be broadcasted on DSTV Channel 198 and GoTV Channel 29.
The Experience website will equally carry daily updates on The Experience 2021.
