Former President, Donald Trump announced an agreement on Wednesday that launch his own social media network will allow him to reclaim his social media presence after being banned from the platforms of Twitter Inc. and Facebook Inc.
According to Bloomberg, according to a news statement from the Trump Media and Technology Group, the former president’s new company would be operational by the first quarter of 2022.
It claims to be launching a social media platform named Truth Social. If everything goes according to plan, the changes will take place well before the mid-term elections in 2022.
The company would become publicly traded as a result of a combination with another company called Digital World Acquisition Corp.
According to the press release, in addition to the social network, the firm expects to launch a subscription video on-demand service in the first quarter of 2022.
After being kicked off of Twitter and Facebook, Trump has long expressed a desire to launch his own social media company. He shut down an online blog where he issued statements earlier this year after it drew only a few readers.
Trump has been permanently blocked from Twitter, while Facebook declared earlier this year that he will be suspended from its networks for at least two years, with the possibility of reinstatement in 2023 if “the risk to public safety” had diminished.
Trump has been attempting to reclaim the capacity to communicate with fans, raise funds, and generate press coverage that he lost due to his lack of access to social media networks, particularly Twitter.
Trump used Twitter for everything during his presidency, from attacking opponents to making important policy announcements.
