The department of Communication arts, University of Uyo has on Wednesday succeeded on its quest to be named a Faculty after it was approved by the University’s Senate.
In their 122nd sitting, the University of Uyo Senate approved the un-bundling of the department of Communication arts to be now called Faculty of Communication and Media Studies.
The now Faculty formerly a department was a member of the Faculty of Arts covering several majors, but will hence stand on its own.
The new faculty of Communication and Media Studies will have seven different departments which were previously offered as courses by students in the department.
The un-bundling will see the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies with the following 7 Departments:
Journalism
Public Relations
Advertising and Marketing Communications
Broadcasting
Film and Multimedia Studies
Information and Media Studies
Strategic and Corporate Communication
