The newly approved faculty of Communications and Media studies has appointed its inaugural Dean and heads of the department.
The appointment saw the current head of the new Department of Communication Arts which was announced a Faculty last month Professor Peter Esuh become the pioneer Dean of the Faculty.
Professor Esuh, Chairman, Akwa Ibom Land Use and Allocation Committee, who has taught in the University for more than 25 years, was until his latest appointment the 11th Head of the Department of Communication Arts – which today has evolved into a faculty.
The faculty has eight departments of Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, and Marketing Communications, Broadcasting, Film and Multimedia Studies, Information and Media Studies, Strategic and Corporate Communication, Development Communication.
In a similar situation, Dr. Herbert Batta has been appointed, Head of the Department of Information and Media Studies.
Professor Ashong Clifford Ashong is the new Head of the Department of Development Communication as Dr. Uduot Iwok becomes the Head of, the Department of Public Relations.
The new department of Journalism has Dr. Nsikak Idiong as the pioneer Head as their work begins with immediate effect.
The rest of the newly created department is yet to have their heads as many appointments await the new birth faculty.
