After dating Lauren Silverman for 13 years, Simon Cowell, a British media figure, has proposed to her.
During the couple’s recent vacation in Barbados, Cowell, who was a judge on the X-Factor talent show, America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent, proposed, according to The Sun on Tuesday night.
While out on a walk on the beach, the 62-year-old proposed to the American socialite in front of their seven-year-old son Eric and step-son Adam from Lauren’s first marriage.
The engagement took place on Christmas Eve, according to a source.
“They are both super happy,” the insider told People. “They’ve been together a long time now and adore each other so it’s not a huge surprise to their close friends.”
“Lauren was absolutely stunned and never in a million years expected Simon to pop the question. She burst into tears – happy tears – and obviously said ‘yes’ straight away.
“It was important to Simon that the kids were there too, as he adores them both and the family they’ve become.
“Whilst Simon never thought he was the marrying type, he’s realised he’s met the woman of his dreams – and couldn’t be happier. In the words of Beyoncé, it was time to put a ring on it.”
